A recent Stats-Canada E commerce Report on yearly trends, shows an increase in the number of consumers shopping online. Canadians have continued to see the benefits of purchasing online, from their home, school and office; or at least “window shop” a company's inventory. The report suggests that approximately 7 million Canadians, aged 18 and over placed an order online; while slightly over 9 million logged on to browse or 'window shop'. This represents 41 percent of total Canadians Internet users.
Embracing e-business can offer many benefits to your company, regardless of its size. Using the Internet as a business tool can improve coordination within the production process, improve communication with suppliers and customers, optimize supply sources and increase a firm's presence in the marketplace.
The extent to which a firm applies e-business, and for what purposes, varies considerably depending on it's size and client base. Nevertheless, in the evolving “Information Age”, it is imperative that all companies develop an online marketing strategy that is both measurable and highly effective.
Every business needs to accept that:
search engine rankings,
targeted website traffic, and
conversion rate of visitors into customers;
are vital aspect of their long-term success, both on line and off line. These ingredients must be the paramount focus of any successful Internet marketing campaign.
